"The most common way in which to liquidate a debtor’s estate is a Chapter 11 liquidating plan under which a liquidating trustee sells off the assets and pays out the proceeds to the creditors. (This is a more efficient and less expensive system than liquidation under Chapter 7.) The process is aimed at producing an orderly and not a fire sale. This means that all the different types of assets are grouped and sold under the supervision of the bankruptcy court. This form is for use by a professional firm acting as the liquidating trustees, and it relates to the sale of intangible assets, i.e. the unpaid debts, outstanding judgments and other valid obligations enforceable by the bankrupt.
